DUCFS 2018 photoshoots

The Barbican ft. Asos

Aiming for dewy, stripped back styling, we let the clothes do the talking, illuminated by the midday sun and positioning themselves strikingly against the rocks.

We love the way that each of Ryan Cruzado’s pieces that we shot were a renegotiation and reformation of classic tailoring.

We tried to represent this in the way that we photographed his collection: contrasting divisions made possible by the use of mirrors and reflection; attempting to showcase an alternate perspective and replicate the importance of shape in his work.

Greenall's Gin

We are excited to announce that this year’s Official Drinks Reception Sponsor for DUCFS 2018 is Greenall's Gin Founded in 1761 by Thomas Dakin, the forefather of English gin and original master distiller, the award winning gin has been at the forefront of British gin for gin lovers through the centuries. Three new expressions have been created to accompany the Greenall’s Original London Dry, which you will be able to try at the DUCFS 2018 exclusive drinks reception: The Greenall’s Wild Berry, Greenall’s Sloe and Greenall’s Extra Reserve!

Alice Jane Potter

Our second shoot, featuring designs from Alice Jane Potter, has allowed DUCFS to explore the aesthetic of fluidity, working from the beginning of the evolutionary journey that will shape the show itself.

Inspired by the ethereal, other-worldly shapes of Alice Jane Potter’s pieces, we saw the beach as an ideal backdrop, with the stunning colour palette of the designs emulating the contrast between the sky and sea.

Ryan graduated in 2015 from Northumbria University with a cutting-edge, urban collection inspired by ruggedly exposed brutalist architecture. His respect for the unpretending honesty of such stark constructions communicate strength and functionality; encapsulating a modern approach to masculinity. The rigid shapes of the architecture create contrasting and angular areas of shadow and light, which too have informed the structure and shape of his work.

A great British smooth and crisp gin, Greenall’s has been enjoyed for over 250 years and is hand crafted in Britain’s oldest distilleries. Only seven master distillers know the full Greenall’s process and recipe!

The DUCFS 2018 photoshoot with Greenall’s took place at The Town House Durham, another DUCFS 2018 sponsor. A Grade II-Listed Georgian town house located in Durham on Old Elvet, the 18th century town house has 11 bespoke bedrooms, each offering a very different experience for its guests.

The Pink House Mustique was founded in 2008 on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Mustique. Influenced by the island’s stunning fauna and flora, British designer, Lotty Bunbury, began to create women’s sarongs and kaftans for the Pink House, developing an easily recognisable "Mustique style” : fun yet sophisticated. While women visiting Mustique paraded around in Lotty B kaftans and sarongs that were designed and painted on the island, there was no apparel for men that was uniquely "Mustique.” So, Lotty introduced Pink House Swim for men. Lotty’s collections for men and women soon became the shop's best sellers and were sought after by other boutiques throughout the Caribbean. Interest from the rest of the world followed, prompting the launch of Pink House Mustique labels in-store and online, making the increasingly popular beach and resort wear available worldwide.
